This painting was the first one of four in my series "I like to think of my mind as a living room". I created these paintings to capture the angst, insanity, and beauty of being 23. I remember feeling incredibly lost at the time because I was experiencing such radical change in every aspect of my life. Living through loss, conflict, anxiety, and many heartbreaking events made me distrustful. I thus caged my heart in armor, thinking it would protect me from sadness. I wish I could remind younger me the joys of loving unconditionally. Even though kindness is a risk, a small action could be the start of some of the most beautiful stories in your life.
